There are 2 addons that will make questing easy mode and extremely fast. 1. Cartographer - this is a map addon that allows you to set notes on the map. It also unlocks the entire map, so you can see everywhere without 'discovering' it first.2. WHDB (wow-head database). This is a questing addon that modifies your quest log. It will put a button in your quest log that says "show map" that will open your map and put a note (or notes) to everywhere you need to go. (Cartographer required for notes). It also has forum entires from wow-head about the quest, so if you have to do something special or hard to figure out, you can read what other people did.You can download both of these addons from www.curse.com. Cartographer is under the maps section and WHDB is under the quest section. They are both legal to use and will not get you banned. If you are not familiar with addons, other ones you should get are:Auctioneer (makes posting auctions easy, it will also give you average price information in item links)Cooldown timer (some people find it annoying, but i like to see cooldowns on certain spells).Omen threat meter - a must if you run instances or group with parties. It will let you know the current threat levels to help you stay below your tank so you don't get aggro'ed and die.BG timers if you do BG's a lot. Most useful for AV.

There are lots of free leveling guides but a leveling guide by itself will probably not help you if you have not played through the game before or at least used a leveling guide before. I have used both Joana's guide and Brian Kopp's alliance guide and I can tell you a few tips right off the bat:1) Print out your guide. If you constantly are alt-tabbing between WoW and you're guide you are going to level slower than normal, not faster.Print out your guide in advance so that you cna read your gudie while leaving WoW open.2) Read your guide in advance. This one adds to the first tip. You need to have a general idea of what you are supposed to be doing before you start questing.3) Download and use:Cartographer http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/download.php?id=6403MobMap http://www.mobmap.de/dodownload.php?dl=database/MobMapDatabaseEnglish.zip&mirror=1QuestHelper http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/download8356-QuesthelpervipersniperCartographer is a map tool which displays coordinates. MobMap is an game database that can automatically locate the location of any mob (monster, quest giver, npc, etc.) in the entire game.QuestHelper automatically takes your quests and places them in the most efficient order, then places a waypoint arrow above your characters head showing the exact direction of your next quest. It is as close as it gets to an "in-game" leveling guide.4) Create an AltTravelling to town is a bad idea, 99% of the time. Towns are laggy and hard to navigate. (Thunderbluff makes me want to hit Blizzard employees with a bat) There are very few reasons you should be going to a main city. Create an alt. Create a level 1 character who lives in the main city. Send most of your money and any sale-able stuff you find while traveling to your alt. This way you can trade, sell your stuff in the AH, etc. without actually going into the city with your main character. If you want a list of free guides, you don't need one - the best free guide as of right now is:Jame's Horde Guide http://www.wow-pro.com/node/754It is much slower than the pay guides, but better free guides are being made every day.
