Yes it will have an extensive online play. You can have up to 12 people online races, send ghosts and shar record times. It is thought to be one of the best online games ever seen on a nintendo console.

It looks quite interesting, the addition of moterbikes etc will make it different from other mario kart games

Different but still with the same winning formula. Although snaking has been abolished (turning corners on a straight peice of road in a snake pattern in order to get powerslide boosts).
