Is the PS3 over priced?

At the moment it's at $400 for the 40gb and when it was released it was $500 for the 20gb and $600 for the 60gb model.

So yes it has gone down in price but it is still very over priced.

I say its an amazing price! Who doesnt want a 400 dollar blu-ray player?! Btw, I always buy the cheapest system, drop in a huge hdd, and pop the thing on ebay for 100 dollars of quick money.

Thats a good way to make money. But I'm not sure that the blu-ray movies are as good a you say they are.

Console hardware costs can be best valued when taken into the consideration of product refresh cycle. It's like buying a macbook. They offer an upgrade every 5-8 months, so it would make much more sense to purchase at the beginning of a refresh cycle. For PS3 vs Xbox, it's the same thing. Their relative prices are set by professional analytics to their worth. The best way to decide which to purchase in my opinion is to actually look at their individual refresh cycle. I would argue that they are both fairly priced. They are overpriced at the end the cycle and underpriced at the beginning of the cycle.

hmmmm, thats a hard one, maybe its just a lil overpriced, but if u think what it contains
you cant make a computer with that specs for that price. like never...
and it have some kickass games, like GTA4 and stuff, gears of war etc etc.
and blue ray well, i have a 900$ one in my comp (it can write it too :Q)
maybe its worth it, ima gonna get one next week or so, and also a Xbox 360, then ill see what i like the most xD

True it has good specs but its more the way they use them than what it can thereticaly do. I don't know the PS3 well enough to give an example but on the wii a lot of games do not anywhere near use its full capeability of graphics.

I got an xbox360 and might buy ps3 later too.

Well in my opinion... all console games are overpriced if they're fresh
take the Old school atari consoles lol... They cost $_$ a couple of centuries ago but now I can get them from freebies
