You should forget the JRTolkien books unless youre in it for the long haul. The "series" is the Lord of the Ring series - imagine how long that will take! One of my favorite books of all time is on your list: (to wit) "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" For a girl your age, I think it will be perfect. Its about a girl your age growing up in an impoverished family in Brooklyn in the 20's. See the movie AFTER youve read the book.Good luck

Tolkien's the best, but not a quick read. I like Shusterman, but haven't read any of the ones above -- I love his trilogy "Scorpion Shards", "Thief of Souls", &"Shattered Sky". Also, his "Mind--" collections are good -- "MindStorms", "Mindtwisters", "MindBenders", &"MindQuakes".Have fun!

J.R.R Tolkein series are good if you like reading long chapters about fighting. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein is the best of the series. The books in the Redwall series are very good. Ark Angel by Anthony Horowitz is also a very good book, but you should start with the first one of the series, Stormbreaker. That series is a very fast read. They are about a fourteen year old spy and they are very enjoyable and have lots of action.
