Default Keeping your password safe

After the positive feedback I got from my runescape keep your password safe guide I thought I would edit it for more general use and make it a sticky. Enjoy!

Never say it
It may seem obvious but whatever happens in game, you must not say your password. It is true that some sites block it out but one misspelling and people could guess your password.
On the same subject, if you make your password something obvious like "pizza" when saying something in game it would come up as "I like pepperoni *****" and people could easily guess your password.

Don't write it down
It's not just hackers that can steal your account. Your devilish little brother/ sister could steal it as well and if you have your password lying on your desk then it won't be too hard for them! So the best place to keep your password is in your head.

Please also bear in mind that if you tell your friends your password you could be banned for sharing accounts

Make sure you are only logging in on the correct website or software

Clones of the games log on page can easily be made so always make sure that you are on the right website. Equally you should not use the same password on any fansites or in fact any sites for maximum security.

What is a good password?

Do:
-Make it at least 8 characters wrong
-Have a mix of letters and numbers
-Avoid repeating characters like "aaaa"

Don't:
-Pick a number to do with you as in a birthday or house number
-Use anything to do with your name or account name
-Use a series of letters on your keyboard such as "qwerty" as these are very common

Thanks,
Homie

Very useful guide, nice work. Also remember to watch out for those key loggers.

Well, the best thing to do in order your password will be safe is just- don't tell to someone about it..
Keep it with your self..

Here's a couple of other tips. Don't use your character name as your login name. Do not use the same login and password from a game to register on another site/forum fansite. Don't use your msn login/hotmail address as your login or email for your game accounts. Don't use any information that is public either on the net or in real life for your login, password or email address, all of those details should be totally private. One more thing from my experience of free mmorpgs, avoid posting on "freeboard" type message boards even official ones as they are notorious for having very poor security and getting hacked.

WoW, what you said are really useful and good measures, but what's frustrated, I would always forget my account or password because of so many different kinds of them used.

also dont give anyone your recovery info. I know its obvious, but iv heard of countless complaints about them giving their recovery info, and saying they were scammed.
