Guild Wars Any Good? Also what are some other MMORPG?

My hubby and I are avid Wow players and freind of ours told me that we would probably like Guild Wars and that it was a MMORPG like WOW but you only had to buy the game not pay a subscription everymonth. Is that true? Also what kind of characters can you run with? Are they all humans or what? Any info on Guild Wars or another similar game would be appreciated.

i have guild wars nightfall, and its a pretty ok game. the downsides are that you can only go to level 20, and you DEF. do not have to pay a monthly fee. all my friends are playing diablo right now, lol. but i've heard that the lord of the rings rpg game was really, really good. also, on a side note, guild wars just, or is about to release a new expansion.

I played Guild Wars once and it was a waste of $40.00. I prefer Maplestory.

Guild wars is a good game. it is like wow but you do not have to pay per month. you just have to buy the games.

Quit WoW, and go to a temple and have yourselves cleansed from the evil But that's beside the point >.>Guild Wars is decently entertaining, it's got some pros and cons.Obviously, you only have to buy the game, but not pay a monthly fee. Instead you can choose to buy the expansions which add new things to your game.It's a very easy game to play, and one that if you don't have a lot of time to devote to gaming, can be good for you.Unfortunately, the level cap is painfully low, so once you've hit level 20, all you're doing is PVPing, and finding new skills to use. And rolling new characters, so it can get boring after a while.It's a VERY PVP focused game. There are occasions where PVP is mandatory.The only race you can play is human. And the classes define what you look like. You have very little control over what your character looks like.That's Guild Wars for you. I'll leave it for you to decide it that sounds good or bad.Some other MMOs:City of Heroes/Villains: IMHO the best evar. Pay to play, but a lot of fun.LotR OnlineRF OnlineLineage 2D&D OnlineFinal Fantasy XIEverquest 2... The list is endless.There's also a large number of completely free MMOs out there. The only one I know of off the top is 9 Dragons, but you can search more out.
