im looking at building a new gaming pc and am stuck between these two. Im leaning towards one but im not gonna say which so it doesnt influence someones answer. Which do you think is better? Graphs showing fps in games is good proof, but make sure it has both processors in it, otherwise its useless to me. The rest of the system is pretty much the same regardless of which choice, and the mobos are about the same speed.

Tom's Hardware says the E8400+ wins for at least the couple games they have in the pull down. The chart for Unreal Tournament 2007 is: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2007/unreal-tournament-2004,398.html?p=1267%2C1253In some of the other benchmarks, the 6400+ wins.

Intel is probably faster but you'll get better support from AMD.The speed difference isn't that great, you'll barely notice it. Games depend more on the graphics card, which I would highly recommend the ATI HD4850, its by far the best price for performance card on the market right now.
