The dark knight seemed too long. Was there a "real" need to introduce two face, and then kill him off in the same movie?

It appears that with the length of the movie, and the introduction of more then one character, the movie could have been divided in half and made into 2 movies.

Two Face isn't necessarily dead. There are rumors that he will be brought back for the third film.

Hmm I've never really been into Super Hero, Marvel, DC Comic, stuff. Lately there have been tons of these movies made though.

is it true that the Dark Knight Movie was planned to for longer but they had to cut it short due to the death of Heath?
