Default Mac or PC?

I'm planning to buy a laptop of around $3000. I am still in junior high and won't be using it for gaming, but a descent multimedia would help. I am still confused with to either buy a mac or a pc. If it is a mac, should i buy a macbook or macbook pro? If I should buy a pc, what pc manufacturer should i buy it from? (ex. dell, hp, toshiba etc...) and the kind of pc from that manufacturer? thank you!

They are both suitable, but there are more games available for PC than Mac, even though you might not use it for that. Dell is good since you can customize it largely. If you are looking for the best tech support, look towards Macs and smaller companies such as Velocity Micro. Make sure to have lots of RAM (at least 2 GB) and a powerful dual-core processor, preferably an Intel Core 2 (Duo or Extreme).

I would say Mac Pro. Their are 2 types of Pro's. 15 inch and 17 inch. Depending on what you prefer, space or a view, the specs on both of them are the same. You're just paying 300 extra bucks for 2 inches of screen. Also, because you will be in high school soon and more reports will be rollin your way, you can get microsoft office for your mac.

Well I think that pcs can do more but macs are better at what they do. If you are looking to only doing the basics then go with a mac but if you want things like .exe files and a larger selection of games, go pc.

I use a Dell something, with Vista; pretty good. = )

Never had a Mac, so I really can't say, but I do like PC's.
