It is indeed free. As for fun, well that depends on what you like. It's a text based game, so there are pictures and descriptions of everything, but there aren't videos or interactive controls. I'd say the main fun of the game comes from interacting with the other players. So if you are a arcade games or flashy graphics then you won't like it, but maybe you will appreciate it.
