it must sound horribly lame but I played for like 5 years (been off it for 2) but I still think about it ALL the time and miss it. I know I wouldn't have time to play it though and worry if I did i'd fall back in to my old patterns of ONLY playing and doing nothing else (its more fun than real life. Did anyone else have similar problems? Or anything to relate to me about it?

Yes, I lost one of my favorite games. It took me awhile to get past it. But it's been a few year's now. Refuse to pay for it again!! Deep down inside I miss it. Have found other things that keep me busy.

Indeed a good classic MMORPG however it's time to move on. There are better games out there and EQ was good while it lasted but that was the past.
But it shouldn't be totally forgotten as it served as a foundation for some of the newer games out in the MMO market. |

On feeding your EQ addiction, try the "eq emu" or "everquest emulator" search terms in google if you can get ahold of a titanium pack disc set or somethin'. The emu servers aren't patched to live, most with custom zones and items, with a small population (at most 1000 users on at once, but usually 5-200 each).
I miss the game, I focus on eq2 and am eagerly waiting for Warhammer. I've played ffxi, got sucked into that because of the name and square, played eq since launch and even have the newest vendor-summoning veteran reward on my account (year 10). I beta tested eq2 from early beta, have all the vet rewards, several level 80s and I'm still liking it, and still it uses a large amount of my resources and takes a great computer to play well. With eq1 or eqlive's raid size being restructured to 54 and then voice chat added, it's a nice game built for the population that is hardcore diehard eq1 players. I still love it and log in from time to time but I'm unguilded on Cazic. I may create a cleric or warrior or wizard on another server in a few days just to see how fast I can level maybe twinked on drinal, fennin ro or a like server. Nostalgia, loss of log-files and screenshots when on my main characters I have months played, on my shadowknight, level 74 I have almost a year logged. I miss logging off for the night logged into the bazaar with mp3's playing while I slept, how they added the mp3 player during LDoN and as well the lore, players and community. I still do beneficial and fun things in eq2, but nowhere near the playtime I put into eq1, even raiding. It's a dinosaur now, and I think SoE is hesitating to redo the entire game engine and other aspects, but should before SCEA merges with them and it's lost to oblivion. I hope one day it's either free or someone buys the license to do what player-suggestions state need to be done. I even own 2 accounts with up to Secrets of Faydwer, the latest expansion, but I'm also beta testing Seeds of Destruction, a plane-of-time based expansion coming out this November. I still love the game, devs, producers, guilds, and people in general and will never sell my main station account with all games on it. Good luck, have fun, take care of yourself and know that you are remembered in the minds and held in the hearts of many players who don't even think of the game anymore in memories that they're fond of that fade from existence long long from now as a major and affecting experience in their lives. I'm lucky enough to get enough work on project coding sites and contract work to chill, pay my rent and get by and mess around with mmo's. I may be starting a 10-6 job soon so won't easily have time to raid or play as much as I did. When the progression servers came, The Combine was my virtual home for quite awhile. I still miss it and wish I had screenshots and logs from all the people and events I'd become acquainted with over the years; a memory just flashed by of the Plane of Disease, and now another of a group there, then my last raiding of PoP PoD Grummus, the main raid boss. Hehe, having a monk pull there and me begging to get a turn as an SK. Tom |

most parts of the game can be completed with a single group, but some of the most challenging and rewarding encounters require players to raid.everquest's will only allow 72 participants to directly share in raid experience and automatic raid loot rules.
