I know if an often asked question with no "real" answer so I guess i'm looking for your opinions with reasons. I'm interested in something that can melee and cast but not that important, the shadowknight interests me but not sure if they can solo. any suggestion will help... thanks

Any class can solo effectively. Generally speaking, you'll be safest with a Priest, but fights will take a long time. Mages are the riskiest, but fights are over quickly. Fighters and Scouts will be in the middle, with Fighters slightly safer and slower.Bards are good at soloing; they have stealth to avoid trouble and Selo's songs to get out of trouble, and they use both spells and combat arts. Crusaders, particularly Paladins, are good too, since they have both spells and combat arts, and Paladins can heal themselves fairly well.Priests are not bad, but their melee abilities are limited and so they take a long time to defeat a foe solo. A Druid (particularly a Fury) in animal form is probably the most melee-capable Priest. However, the real answer is this: play what you like. If you're interested in a Shadowknight, try one out. You can reach level 10 in an hour or two, and you'll have a good feel for how it plays. By level 20, you'll know for sure if you can solo effectively. And if you can't solo effectively, find a group! It is an MMORPG after all!

I have a 44 fury that I soloed the entire way and I can still solo quite easily. I picked the direct damage Master II and that helped a lot and when I got to 44 I picked the heal over time Master II, but haven't got a chance to test it out yet. I have a level 20 warden and they have similar spells, so I'm sure wardens would be good soloers too. One of the worst solo classes (and by worst, I mean SLOW) that I've found are Defilers. I have a level 39 one and it takes FOREVER to kill even a green mob... They just don't have good damage spells. Other slow soloers I found are Templars and Inquisters. Don't know first hand about Paladins, but I hear they're slow too.I have a 34 monk that I like to solo and I'm sure Bruiser would be a good solo class too. Don't know which one is better though. Necromancers and Conjurers are awesome soloers.I have a Shadowknight and right now I can solo really well, but I'm only level 23, so I don't know about higher levels.Hope this helps :)
