What class in Age of Conan to make?

Im deciding to buy AoC. I know nothing about the game, so i am wondering what class would be the best option. i tend to like melee combat characters, or ranged

The class make up in AoC is in 4 classes with 3 sub-classes. I suggest you goto http://www.ageofconan.com/ it has the discription of what each class does.I have played my Dark Templar to level 45, Nice melee class with spells that help your group and yourself. The fatalities is awsome to watch and you get them alot with the Dark Templar. They can also Tank if spec'd in that area or do good damage.Good Luck

Well that's really the only two options there are Either your up close and personal or attacking from a distance. There isn't really an inbetween. I can tell you from experience, in this first month the game has been out, I have tried almost every char class (with the exception of 1.. so 11/12). By 'tried' I mean played them to at least 15.. you don't really start to get a lot of the stuff that begins to 'define' each class til 15 or so. I've had a blast with every single one of them. I would suggest figuring out what kind of char you would like to play. Every class has a diff approach to them, as in what types of armor they can wear, what kind of weapons they can use, etc. Even though there are 3 classes in each of the 'archtypes' (soldier, thief, mage, priest) each class is different. Soldier classes for example, can all wear the heaviest armor, but the Conquerer cannot use shields. The Dark Templar can only use 1h weps and shields, and has some magical abilities, and the Guardian is the only class that can use Polearms (one mage class can as well but it's more for stats for them, they suck using the wep as opposed to their spells.) Try a few and see which seems to be fun for you. Good luck!
