Default how good is the ps3?

The PS3 can pretty much do everything. It's backwards compatibly with PS1 and PS2 games. It's got the ability to play PS3 games from any region (so if a country gets a PS3 game before you, import it). It's like a PSP in many ways, so it can play music, videos (not just DVD and Blu-Ray, but movies you can covert on your PC). Depending on the PS3, It's got wifi to wirelessly connect to the internet (if you or someone around you has wireless) and it's got the ability to run Linux, so you can install a fully working OS and use it as a PC. Even if you don't use Linux, it's still got it's own web browser. While it does have some drawbacks (like limited backwards compatibility depending on the version and it's high price), it's a great console and Sony are going out of their way to bring out new firmware updates that give you new features.Unlike the XBox 360, the PS3 actually uses large capacity discs (25gb to 50gb) so it has the ability to have games in higher definitions, better quality and more material to make for longer games. It even upscales PS2 games (depending on the PS3 version) to hi-def.
