Default Help me Build my Custom PC (help with specs and if it will even work)?

First I would skip the power supply altogether and get that from a local shop or an online store in the UK. Since you're just starting out you want to keep complications to a minimum. Second, I would change that quad-core CPU to a dual-core one. You can almost always get a faster dual core for less than the quad-core, and as it stands right now anything more than two cores is somewhat pointless as software vendors haven't really jumped on the multi-core bandwagon yet. The only time you'll see any real boost in performance from the extra cores is when you're rendering 3D animations or batch converting audio or video files. Also, make sure your motherboard comes with hard drive cables (they almost always do). Since your hard drive is an OEM model that means it's just the drive and doesn't come with any cables. Other than that I'd say you have a pretty good setup. As for the operating system, I wouldn't recommend using Vista, especially since you plan on going a lot of gaming. I personally would go with Linux since it's free and you can run most Windows games and apps in Linux using Wine, but XP is a good choice if you want to stick with Windows.
