It's better to get a desktop if you are going to use your computer for normal use because Laptops don't have a lot of power as desktops. When your son's going for gaming it's better to go with the desktop. Laptops need a lot of taking care of. If you are going to buy a laptop for $1000, you can buy two better desktops for the same price
